THE EMBODIED MIND IN A RELATIONAL WORLD:
NEUROPSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC PERSPECTIVES ON THE PATHS OF LIFE
On behalf of the Finnish Association for Neuropsychotherapy and our organizing committees, I am happy to invite you to Helsinki in June 2017! The 2nd International Symposium of Neuropsychotherapy will take place on June 8-9, 2017. Our aim is to combine theoretical knowledge with clinical implications of neuropsychotherapy throughout the lifespan. The venue, Theatre Museum, will reflect the methods of art in neuropsychotherapy.
Neuropsychotherapy is a form of treatment based on recent advances in the domains of neuroscience, neuropsychological rehabilitation, and models of psychotherapy. It can be considered an alliance between scientific, theoretical and clinical knowledge in these areas (Laaksonen, 2007).
This will be the 2nd International symposium of our association. The first took place in Tuscany in 2012 with 31 participants from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Italy. This workshop was a success and encouraged us to organize the second one.
The program will start on Thursday from the point of view of children: by bridging theoretical understanding with clinical implications, and will continue by presenting a polyvagal perspective on emotional regulation. We will then continue to the world of teenagers and coping with the immature brain. On Friday we will move to the mature and aging brain. We will start with challenges and dilemmas in psychotherapy of patients with neurological disorders and will end the symposium dealing with aging neuronal networks and the art of ageing.
The speakers represent world-renowned researchers and clinicians from Denmark, UK, and Finland:
- Dr, psychotherapist Susan Hart, Denmark
- MD, child psychiatrist Jukka Mäkelä, Finland
- MD Elina Hermanson, Finland
- LicPsych Mari Saarinen, Finland
- Dr Rudi Coetzer, UK
- Professor Juha Rinne, Finland
- Clinical neuropsychologist, psychotherapist, LicPsych Ritva Laaksonen, Finland
We invite you to take part in a fascinating meeting in the beautiful city of Helsinki.
You are cordially welcome!
